Last week, all three Alma Directors took part in the Big PNE Sleep Out, joining 150 other individuals and colleagues to raise essential funds for The Foxton Centre.
Ed & Shirah have been working behind the scenes with the Sleep Out committee throughout 2023 to make this event as successful as possible – with the target of raising £50,000 to provide food, warmth and activities to some of Preston’s most vulnerable residents through the Foxton Day Centre.
Although there was plenty of rain, it did not dampen the morale of participants who watched the donations continue to come in throughout the night.
In the wee hours of the morning, a group of very damp participants who had relocated to the concourse were heard discussing how the experience had really enlightened them on the ongoing challenges and discomfort rough sleepers face – including the weather, physical discomfort, difficulty to get real rest, and emotional toll.
The Mayor of Preston joined us early the next morning to thank everyone for their efforts for such a great cause.
Donations are still being gratefully received through JustGiving. To date, almost 2,000 individual donations have raised a total of close to £40,000, bringing the charity within reach of its target!
